Remarkable. Poirot is a Belgian but is played by a Brit, so a kind of Anglowashing. But I've searched, nowhere is anyone criticizing. Not even the sour critics of Trouw or Volkskrant, who are usually very excited when someone from another country (than America) is being played by an American. Now this is Brannagh's own project and I partly understand that he wants the lead role himself, but he doesn't really have much added value in this film, he just gets lost. Fortunately the other actors are more happy to be there, otherwise it would have become a dead mess. Especially the first hour of the film is still quite okay, although not very special either.

The big disadvantage of this film is that it has very little content. The murder mystery in particular doesn't really interest me - actually right away, although I had a suspicion how the fork was in the handle. And this is also not a fun puzzle film for the viewer, but gets all the clues from Poirot and it feels much too made up of how he comes to his conclusions.

The CGI is also ugly at times. Everything feels fake and plastic. A few days later I saw The King's Man, which credibly showed the world of the past. Now I mainly watch an almost outdated film. Maybe that's the intention, to get the atmosphere of earlier adventure films, but that didn't work. 2.0*.

The film is in the vein of Murder on the Orient Express, Kenneth Branagh's previous Hercule Poirot film. A film that apparently doesn't score very well here, but I do like the style. It is also not a real thriller or action, but a detective film. A whodonit story by Agatha Christie. Perhaps a genre that has fallen into oblivion.

The role of Hercule Poirot has been filled countless times. And the story of Death on the Nile has also been told several times. The most famous Poirot interpreters (Peter Ustinov and David Suchet) have each played their version of the story. I do like the style of Kenneth Branagh who not only shows the story, but also dresses it up in a colorful nostalgic atmosphere. Again with cinematographer Haris Zambarloukos who also worked on Murder on the Orient Express. Wondering if there will be a sequel after these two films. More books have been written by Poirot. And Agatha Christie is the best-selling fiction author of all time.

Entertaining Agatha Christie adaptation, the second starring Kenneth Branagh. Fortunately, his character gets a bit more depth here and his mustache even has its own origin story! Pretty funny by the way. The plot is also nicely put together and the cast is clearly looking forward to it, but the excess of digital backgrounds and a gnawing sense of old-fashionedness do spoil the fun a bit.
