The sailors Jens, Fiete and Karl go ashore in Hamburg to visit their friend Hannes Kröger. Hannes would love to go sailing again, but he has promised his deceased twin brother to take care of Gisa Häuptlein. When he lets the young girl come to Hamburg, he falls in love with her, but she only has eyes for Georg, who works in a dockyard on the harbor.
