Mediocre horror piece that is somewhat saved by the cast, the 80's atmosphere, more specifically the music and clothing style present. Leslie Nielsen plays only a small part here. The opening of the film gives rise to more hopes, but the film drops too many stitches. For example, the tension of the film is already destroyed in that opening scene. You immediately know how the fork is in the handle. How could it be different ? The age is not really taken into account because 6 years later the children look older very quickly. The kills look very mediocre and the killer looks a bit clumsy. Towards the end it seems a bit like Carrie in terms of setup during the Miss/Mister election, although that will not be the case in the end. 5/10

Exhausting.

I know I'm going to come up with a controversial opinion now, but after seeing this Prom Night I can safely conclude that I prefer the remake with all my heart. I know the remake falls short on many points too, but rather anything than the boring and lifeless gang calling themselves Prom Night 1980.

It's not often I've had so much trouble getting through a slasher. Usually often entertaining films with little brainpower required. Movies that you can just enjoy with a bowl of popcorn and 0 brain power. However, Prom Night wants to be more, and while I respect this decision, it doesn't benefit the film.

The opening is still nice, and the setting too, but it soon becomes clear that the film is taking a rather boring run-up. Each character acts poorly and is extremely boring. Including Curtis. I know she has a fan base, but I'm not one of them. I found her character to be just as bland and poorly acted as the rest, and have little to carry with the film.

The decorations are still in order, and an ideal background for some nice bloodshed. The bloodshed, however, does not stop there. The kills remain safe except for a few rolling heads. They really come up with all sorts of things to not make the kills graphic. Actually, based on the murders, I had fully understood why the remake has become PG-13. This 80s movie should also be PG-13.

The deeper layer and dramatic tone that the film wants to give to its story only cause dullness and irritation, the acting is bad, the characters are annoying and the course never seems to end. I must confess that in terms of decoration and decoration it has become a competent film, with some stylish sequences as a result. The opening was also nice by the way, and despite the fact that the film seems to be longer, I was allowed to close this nonsense after 87 minutes. I just couldn't do anything with it, unfortunately.
