Fair enough.

In the end I still doubted whether it was sufficient or not, but in the end I took the benefit of the doubt. As entertaining as I ended up finding it, I have to admit that this isn't exactly a good horror film for a number of reasons.

The acting isn't exactly brilliant, Love Hewitt doesn't always seem to hold her own in her role, but everyone seems to want it. Phifer in particular I found quite funny every now and then. Cobbs and Combs also make quite a reasonable impression.

Other than that, it's a pretty lame horror movie. The kills are pretty brutal at times, although I have to say that the bloodiest kills were off-screen or aftermaths. The kills that did come into the picture, however, came off a bit well.

The story takes quite a while before it really gets going, but the last half hour is pure horror again. Plus, the setting is quite interesting, a storm season in the Bahamas. You can just guess from the start that there is a tail to it when they answer Rio to the contest. Mary.

The build-up to frightening moments is too clumsy to be scary, and the film isn't really scary anywhere either. Everything is a bit too thick on top of it, which makes it mostly clumsy and crazy, but never seems to become really subtle. For the rest it doesn't matter much, but it's still a bit of a missed opportunity.

Not a bad, and certainly entertaining horror film in the end. There's plenty of blood, more than in part 1, but somehow I hoped it would get a little scarier.

The first part was not very strong, but this sequel nevertheless manages to reach a sad level. As a director, if you want to throw any kind of logic out the window, okay then as far as I'm concerned, but please don't create such a mega-serious tone and atmosphere. Then make it something campy so that at least there can be some laughter, nothing wrong with that. But no. Let's go 15 minutes to Freddie Prinze Jr. who pains herself immensely to act a little credibly, and then fails ridiculously hard. His scenes could have been deleted in the first place. The rest of the cast is still quite sympathetic and fun, so that saves the film a bit. And the location of the island ravaged by tropical storms is also fine. It's therefore not a very annoying sit, and it's entertaining in the end, but the smallest bit of logic is broken every 2 minutes in the most unjustifiably serious way, so I can't give this any higher than a 2*.

Almost as good as the first part. Still very entertaining. It depends, the new one may have worn off a bit, but the first part didn't seem that new either. Pretty standard slasher/thriller. This sequel also has a little more plot than the first film and more twists. It's not the best slasher but certainly a great movie for the enthusiast to have fun with. Jennifer Hewitt is a handsome appearance who doesn't even need a good script to keep watching. Significantly underrated here on the site.
