You Were Never Lovelier plot
"Hayworth's glowing beauty! Astaire's glorious rhythm! Kern's greatest score since "Show Boat"!"
The wealthy Argentine family Acunas has a tradition that the eldest daughters marry first. When the eldest daughter gets married, the daughters (3 and 4) put pressure on Maria (2), because they have found all their favorites. But Maria hasn't found anyone she really loves yet. Eduardo Acuna, thinking that the men these days are not enough romance, sends her daughter flowers and anonymous love letters to create a "mysterious man" for her to fall in love with someone. He plans to find a suitable man for her, who can fill the part. But Robert Davis (Astaire), an American dancer looking for work, bumps into her. Maria falls in love with him, but her father does not appreciate this.
