Cannibal Ferox plot

"Banned in 31 countries!"

A group of college students go into the Colombian jungle to find evidence to the contrary about tribes carrying out cannibalism. In an unfortunate way they come into contact with drug dealers who tortured their native slaves because they did not produce enough. One of the drug dealers raped and murdered a girl. Her tribe takes monstrous revenge on the outsiders by imprisoning, torturing, killing and even eating them.

It all starts as a somewhat bland copy of Cannibal Holocaust: the same story in which a group of white Americans go into the jungle (for slightly different reasons), which is already 'polished' in the beginning with some bad jokes and slapstick. The blond box and her shower provider, the pet, the pedantic academic tutu, and already an accident at the first animal they see. It's quite an unbelievably incompetent bunch of expeditioners. But in no time they are apparently deep enough in the jungle to encounter the cannibals, and not only that, also two other New Yorkers (little world that jungle, apparently) who have been quite misbehaving with the local Indians .

Unfortunately, this cannibal print was not made by an animal lover either - we soon see how a snake is extensively strangling another animal, not much later it is the turn of a snake to be bitten to death by a lizard, again a turtle that is slaughtered with brute force, and during the film we often see animals being slaughtered or eaten. In that respect it is perhaps even a degree worse than Cannibal Holocaust.

Whatever you think of animal violence, it's not such a great film outside of it either. It's mostly a parade of gore and excessive violence (including the animal cruelty mentioned above), a few whites misbehaving against the cannibals and the cannibals taking revenge, really bad acting and certainly quite a bit in the beginning some lame jokes. As far as I'm concerned, that doesn't fit at all in what later becomes a much more grim film. When the cannibals go wild in the second half, it is still somewhat enjoyable, but in the end it remains a lesser variant of Cannibal Holocaust, which remains the ultimate cannibal film for me for the time being.

Was Mangiati Vivi! (1980) by this director is still quite enjoyable, unfortunately that cannot be said of this successor. On the contrary! This was really crap. The story hit rock bottom, the acting was sad and the animal cruelty was nothing to write home about either. Look, I generally don't focus too much on credibility with these kinds of films, but there are limits of course. They were exceeded here so far that it just became laughable. - By chance they met each other in the Amazon jungle - well, it's just such a small forest, isn't it. We also enjoy singing together before falling prey to the ritual orgies of the cannibals. - But enough about this. I can go on like this endlessly, but that is of course pointless because then I fall too much into repetition. By the way, all these negative points have already been mentioned.

In brief; Cannibal Ferox is the worst cannibal movie I've seen yet, but... I have more on my shelf. So, maybe he will be surpassed even though that seems very strong to me. Can't get any worse than this in my opinion.

A classic. Contains that dirty atmosphere that only Italians can create. I like this. I've seen the Shameless bluray with some animal cruelty cut out - Not all. I don't necessarily need to see the complete uncut version. I think this is a nice interim solution. The plot is a kind of stripped-down cannibal holocaust and sometimes it is very obvious that it has been stolen. No problem for me, you don't watch these kind of movies for the plot... I'm so glad that these kind of movies can still be watched, because it's still fun with those italotrash movies. Shine on with your cinematography, acting and content.
