Le Diable Géant ou Le Miracle de la Madone plot

Romeo, seated in his gondola, sings a sentimental song for Juliet, after which he departs. Hardly has he left when the colonnade falls apart, revealing the devil. Julia is startled, runs to the window, and calls for Romeo. He tries to enter to protect his fiancée, but at a gesture from the devil, the window is suddenly slammed shut by a barred gate, whereupon Romeo makes frantic attempts to break through it.
