Jeanne d'Arc plot
Young Jeanne is visited by three saints, who urge her to fight for her country. Her parents and uncle beg her to stay at home, but she travels to Vaucouleurs, where she meets the governor, Captain Robert de Baudricourt. Jeanne persuades him and he gives her the authority to lead French soldiers. Jeanne and her army lead a triumphal march to Orléans, after which Charles VII is crowned king of France in Reims. She is captured at the siege of Compiègne. She is interrogated and refuses to sign a withdrawal, after which she is convicted of heresy. In the market of Rouen she is tortured and burnt at the stake. She ascends to heaven, where she is greeted by God and the saints.
