I thought, in the middle of winter, an empty-headed film with white beaches, blue skies and tanned girls. And, ehh, yes, it is a bit. Just a bit more empty-headed than I thought. Apparently that's possible. If you mix all the lame movies from the fashion and surfer genres, and take out everything that deviates a little from the bare minimum, you get... this. And yes, any other film with sand, sea and waves will soon be a lot better.

Rip Tide

Predictable coming of age film with really bad acting, and the mediocre camera work and poor cinematography make everything look cheap. The setting (Australia, beach, surfing) compensates for something, and the film has that wonderful Australian laid back atmosphere. Debby Ryan and some of the other ladies don't hurt the eyes either, but Rip Tide isn't very good otherwise.

Not even unkind. Not exactly good, but with the wonderful No-Worries atmosphere of Australia, this is quite enjoyable to watch for a long time. Nicely played, relaxed and the film does little wrong for a long time. It's just a shame about the last fifteen minutes where all the ends are still being tied and a lot of clichés are spread that make you feel nauseous. Therefore just the wrong side of the line. 2.5*.
