This is a nice book adaptation of the Pietje Bell series, I don't think there are many kids who don't like this.

Acting in general can be called good except for some kids, but that is still to be condoned.

A great Arjan Ederveen too.

Pietje Bell

is a decent youth film

with the mischievous Quinten Schram

as title role.

For the rest I was

always a fan of

the sadly deceased Roef Ragas

who once again plays a strong role here

as aggressive and drunk father, plus criminal

turns out later,

I must say that honestly

you don't see that nowadays

more such good Dutch actors

who can play with his pit

and the appearance is important to me!

In America Roef . had

Ragas got such an Oskar for his role in this

I mean at that time.

Also Rick Engelkes charming

plays nice too.

Stijn Westenend plays Jozef Geelman

which is already getting on your nerves

with his nerdy look and voice

A plus is that too

Jack Wouterse and Roef Ragas

were already a nice duo here in this movie

Kruimeltje, Ciske de Rat, Dik Trom, Pietje Bell... Dutch children's literature is teeming with bells and whistles.. the Kameleon series, not to be forgotten. to have.

I set up this film about Pietje Bell again, really only because I was curious about the sets of pre-war Rotterdam. But that is disgusting. The recordings took place in Bruges and Ghent, all very beautiful, but this has little to do with the old Rotterdam. But hey, kids don't get that. I did see a nice shot of the Sint-Laurenskerk flash past, by the way.

Quite comical at times, especially because the various characters are portrayed so caricatured: Marjan Luif as Aunt Cato with her guess of a nose is perhaps the best example of this. I saw Joop Doderer pass by for a while, whom I didn't recognize at first, but what a striking head that man had, jiezus!

Somewhere, a circus elephant can be seen walking over a narrow bridge, between the screaming children. It all looks very lonely and sad. I get that this is a movie from before the ban on wild animals in the circus, but still… it doesn't make it any less pathetic.
