"Love turns into memories. Memories turn into dreams. Only compassion is real..."

A lonely man spends his days at his typewriter working on his thesis, while parties are going on in the apartment below him. One day he sees a young woman outside. She turns out to be following her husband, who appears to be having an affair with another woman. When the man sees the young woman again later, it is outside in the rain, while she again keeps an eye on her husband. They start talking and the woman goes inside with him. There she pours out her heart.
