Jim is a Latin language teacher at the same school where he used to be taught. He is retiring after a long career. He is a shy man who has led a carefree but lonely life and wants to travel and hope to fall in love again. But his father has a stroke and that thwarts his plans. The taxi that collects Jim from school is driven by Ray, a former football hooligan and widower with two grown children. They use him as a nanny for their children. Despite their differences, Jim and Ray become friends...
