Westler plot
West Berliner Felix is visiting Bruce, a friend in Los Angeles. Bruce travels back to West Berlin and also wants to visit East Berlin. Felix doesn't really feel like that. East Berlin is gray and depressing and he is annoyed by the extensive border controls. But Bruce drinks up and Felix reluctantly goes along. On the street they meet Thomas and it is love at first sight between Thomas and Felix. They exchange addresses and Thomas is the first to reluctantly make contact. However, Felix is never allowed to go east for more than 24 hours and Thomas is never allowed to go west. It is an unsolvable problem that weighs heavily on their fragile love. Prague offers a solution: Thomas is allowed to travel there and so they can spend a few days together for the first time. Thomas wants to make an attempt to flee to West Germany via Hungary and (former) Yugoslavia.
