Pretty cool.

Fresh, fast-paced, and entertaining. Three key concepts I can use to justify my ample passing rating. We Are Your Friends had been buried somewhere in my watchlist for a while, though I have no idea how I stumbled upon this film. In any case, it was easy to watch on Netflix.

Efron has since grown from child star to adult star, and he's holding up well. I also prefer to see him in slightly more mature roles, although this one felt more like coming-of-age. He plays a teenager in this film, but "We Are Your Friends" is definitely not a children's film.

Other roles also perform very well. Bentley is on autopilot, but even then he manages to hold his own quite well. Weston, Fernandez, Shaffer, and Ratajkowski all do admirably. No one really stands out, as the roles aren't unique enough for that, but it's nothing to complain about.

The editing, especially at the beginning, is fast enough to keep the viewer engaged. The film is also a mix of energetic and dreamy direction. The balance is sometimes found, but not maintained. The editing is sometimes very fast, while the next scene can be a slower one. It alternates constantly, but doesn't detract too much.

It's certainly predictable, but also lighthearted and entertaining. The music is a genre you have to be a fan of, but I do enjoy it. The final song, in particular, was a real banger. It's great how Joseph can create such a fresh whole from such a standard story.

This is a fun film. It's unoriginal, unsurprising, and utterly predictable, but delightfully lighthearted and entertaining. The romance finally feels natural. Not as bad as the subpar MM rating suggests.

A fun, fast-paced film about a 23-year-old DJ (Zac Efron) trying to make it in the Los Angeles electronic dance scene. The plot is more or less a variation on the theme of the TV series Entourage, but the characters are likable, the atmosphere is well-captured, and there's plenty of great music to enjoy. In the last half hour, things start to drag a bit, and the film falls short in addressing certain dramatic events, but until then, this is a very enjoyable film.

Quite entertaining, thanks to the rhythmic vibe combined with the lovely visuals and animations, and the summery atmosphere it exudes. On the other hand, it also has a fun, attractive cast for both genders. Zac Efron and Bentley are good, while Emily relies heavily on her looks and sexy charisma. The story itself isn't all that compelling: a bit of drama and romance, and a side plot about deception/illegal money-making that could certainly have been omitted. Summer vibe! 6/10
