Water plot

"For Five Years, Extremist Groups Waged A Campaign of Death Threats, Arson and Riots To Stop The Production of "Water." But The Filmmakers Were Not To Be Silenced."

Water is set in colonial India in 1938, when Mahatma Gandhi comes to power. The story begins when eight-year-old Chuyia loses her husband and is sent to a house where Hindu widows in captivity spend the rest of their lives. The small, fiery Chuyia profoundly influences the lives of the other widows. So is the life of Kalyani, a young widow who falls in love with the idealistic Gandhi follower Narayan.
