Velikiy Uteshitel plot
The story is set in America in 1899, where Bill Porter is in prison. Thanks to his writing skills, he receives extra privileges from the governor, so that he is spared the inhumane treatment of his fellow prisoners. Porter is well aware of this, but refuses to write about prison life for fear of losing his privileges. He prefers to comfort his fellow inmates with increasingly romantic stories, in which good always triumphs.
