What a poor average for a more than nice film. Strong chemistry between Travolta and Winger and a swinging country & rodeo setting with an appropriate soundtrack. Travolta plays a man who is too proud and haughty, too immature to manage a relationship as it should be. Winger is at her sexiest when she rides the mechanical bull ... Sometimes it goes on the simplistic side. The way relationships are entered into, for example: just pick a girl from the audience, perform a dance and presto, she goes to bed... married a week later. The simple plot conceals the beautiful and still current message that in any relationship, you sometimes have to be able to put your pride and ego aside. There is something to criticize, but I thought it was a wonderful film... I also have childhood memories of it, so that's why I'm rounding up.

Good film about a young man who moves from the countryside to the big city. A simple story and it is a bit monotonous, but as a slice-of-life it works well. Especially because the environment in which the film takes place is clearly highlighted (the honky-tonk bar, the rodeo riding and the music). Excellent location work, a beautiful portrayal of the era and two excellent roles by John Travolta and Debra Winger

Enjoyed this honky tonk Saturday Night Fever. Since John Travolta can put on his dancing shoes again, this time in western swing. Furthermore, it is about cowboys, rodeo, and oil in the background. Everything that Texas and Houston stand for. The storyline alternates relationship drama with great country pop crossover. According to people in the know, this film is a fairly faithful representation of Houston 40 years ago. Good. Good acting and good direction. Definitely worth checking out the soundtrack again.
