Une Vie plot

Normandy in the second half of the nineteenth century. Jeanne Dandieu lives in a large mansion with her parents and their servant Rosalie. She gets to know Julien, a handsome man, whom she marries a short time later. However, her happiness is short-lived when she finds out that he only married her for her money and is cheating on her with Rosalie. The latter gives birth to a child and leaves the house. Six years later, Julien has a new mistress and Jeanne bravely endures her ordeal. But the mistress's husband catches the lovers in the act and his anger leads to a drama.
