Solid new film by Ozon that I only went to see in the cinemas because of Ozon. Serene and authentic, but nothing more than that. In my opinion it is in the middle of his oeuvre, which I generally find more than good.

Euthanasia often remains a sensitive subject and is in itself a dream subject for a strong drama film. Ozon nevertheless takes a position here in which euthanasia is prohibited by law in France, forcing people to move abroad. He flirts briefly with religion, but prosperity also plays a role. Euthanasia care in Switzerland is apparently not cheap. Sick poor people are also left out here...

Terms like life and survival or suicide, murder and euthanasia are raised and make the film a layered drama. Love is also discussed even though the bond between father and daughter was not great. Excellent roles by Sophie Marceau and André Dussollier. Fine!

Someone wrote here that he or she thinks the film is too slow. Well, I experienced the opposite: the events are happening at breakneck speed. Fascinating, moving film with the necessary humor. Beautiful picture and an absolute must!

Ozon dares to tackle sensitive themes. We've known that for a while, but he also often comes up with surprising things. Not only because of the title, where you would expect a happy ending to the story, but also because of the sometimes controversial atmosphere in it: seriousness, drama, playfulness, humor...
A scene like this in the restaurant is one where you think for a moment: can this be? But yes, André was a bon vivant. So it works out well or not?
André Dussolier is commendable in his role and Sophie Marceau, who is usually seen in light-hearted comedies, also does a good job.
Enjoyable Ozon that still fascinates.
