Told at Twilight plot

Little Mary Sunshine is the girl next door to Daniel Graham, a rather lonely old grumbler. She and her black boyfriend Piggy meet him one day. From that day on, Mary regularly visits Daniel. She brings warmth and cheerfulness into his life. Mary's father, meanwhile, loses all his money on the stock market. He wants to break into his neighbor's house, but to his surprise he finds his daughter there. Mary immediately thinks that her father wanted to surprise her. However, Daniel realizes what is really going on, but turns a blind eye for Mary's sake.
