To Live Again plot
Ex-social worker Iris Sayer, still grieving for her late teenage daughter, is approached by her former boyfriend Hank to help him with a complicated case. Hank hopes Iris can ring to death to Constance, a woman who has kept her daughter Karen locked in her house for 6 years. Karen is dirty, wild, can't talk and lives in a dark room full of garbage. Iris and Hank eventually manage to take Karen to a hospital. The doctors diagnose Karen as schizophrenic and want her to be committed to an institution. But Iris is convinced that Karen's mental state is the result of years of incarceration and her drug use. Iris takes Karen to her house and slowly but surely she gets in touch with the girl and eventually Karen even starts talking again. Constance wants her daughter back, but during a hearing that follows, Karen lets herself know what she wants; she wants to live again.
