The story centers on the Compson family, once a proud Southern family, who are now financially and emotionally ruined. Howard is a drunk, his brother Bengy an adult child and sister Caddy has returned home after her lovers dropped her. Only Jason, the adopted head of the family, and Quentin, have the strength to get the family back on their feet.
