The story revolves around four characters and is set on an estate. There is the famous actress Irina Arkadina who is past her prime, her son Konstantin who cherishes writing aspirations, the unsuspecting Nina Zarechnaya who wants to become an actress and the famous writer Boris Trigorin. They all have their own artistic and romantic concerns. For example, Trigorin is in a relationship with Irina and Konstantin is in love with Nina.
