Strong contemporary and unique version of the famous play by Almodovar with Tilda Swinton in a starring role. The setting and decor were fabulous and, next to Swinton, a feast for the eyes. There was something to discover in every corner of the room: from humanist paintings to books on the bookshelf by directors Bergman and Capra to other high design fancy furniture. Because you could walk around the room with Earpods, you got a very nice tour of the beautifully decorated apartment while the woman was talking.

Visually very well done. At one point you also got a slow 360° view around Swinton's head. That pretty much summed it all up: Swinton's look and facial expressions in the midst of her colorful fancy surroundings. The strong full colours, especially red, were also reflected. Nice view also of the decor that was placed in the middle of a warehouse, surreal and also a beautiful view from above where there appear to be no ceilings.

Red, the color of passion, intransigence or revenge, stood in stark contrast to the woman's initially distressed plea to her ex. She just can't place the incident. At the same time she is combative and decisive, strong that she is. Interesting portrait and a top Swinton. Nice!

Free adaptation of La Voix Humaine by Jean Cocteau in which a woman [Tilda Swinton] expresses her frustrations about the abrupt end to a 4-year love affair 3 days ago. The setting is reminiscent of a factory hall with a studio and Almodóvar uses modern technology to give the impression that this is not a monologue, but a dialogue in which we only hear the woman's response. Swinton is, as is often the case, excellent, but the piece is unremarkable and somewhat dated, which means it doesn't stick.

The lady wears a flamboyant red dress and suddenly a lugubrious black one. An omen for the change of tone in the film?

In any case, in the first part of her telephone conversation, the lady is rather unctuous for her ex and self-critical. In the second part this takes a turn...

A beautiful short film by Almodóvar with a wonderful and nuanced script, a sublime Tilda Swinton, a simple and ingenious set and just the right length for something like this.

100% intensive enjoyment.
