The Door Between plot

Archibald Crocker, an American alcoholic, visits a geisha house in Japan where scientist Dr. Anthony Ives Eckhart is staying to study Asian music. Eckhart discovers that Crocker has come to Asia to kill his wife Heloise in revenge for her abandonment. After Eckhart travels to Peking and finds Heloise, they fall in love. Crocker convinces Eckhart to consider sparing Heloise and divorcing her instead. An hour later, however, he arrives at Eckhart and Heloise's hotel to kill her.
