The excellent cast with an outstanding Streep is the strongest asset in this gripping drama. In addition, director Nichols also deserves praise because he does an excellent job here by setting exactly the right tone and never resorts to false sentiment.

That whole Karen Silkwood story is very interesting, so much so that I already knew the whole story before I finally saw the film, had to wait for a cheap second-hand DVD from the local dump shop. Entertaining and with eighties heroes such as Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell and Cher. The best part is by the way for Craig T. Nelson (the father from Poltergeist).
However, a lot of family and relationship issues where now and then Karen's struggle could have been measured a bit more widely. From a cinematic point of view, decent craftsmanship, but nothing spectacular.
