Shadows and Sunshine plot

When his son marries a humble waitress, Gilbert Jackson is so disenchanted that he cuts off all contact with him. Five years later, the son goes to the Wild West for several months, while his wife and daughter Mary move to a cottage in the countryside owned by Gilbert and his wife. However, they do not realize who their tenants are and they are immediately endeared by little Mary.
