The combative American soldier 'Lucky' Steve Smith spends the first time in the barracks. Lucky is often accompanied by his buddies Bruce Gordon and Portly Potter. Shortly after the disastrous Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor, Lucky and Bruce track down a gang of spies operating in the Philippines. In the rush, Lucky volunteers for a suicide mission against a Japanese ship. By participating in this mission, Lucky finds redemption from the death of his buddy Portly. Portly's death was his fault.
