This drama is set in World War II in Australia, where a United States Marine, Rebel (Mat Dillon), is recovering from his wounds after a tough battle. Tired of the war, he declares himself illegally absent and wants to escape from Australia. Then he falls in love with a local singer, Kathy (Debbie Byrne), and pursues her. Kathy is married and is not interested in him at first, but later begins to love Rebel.
