Plainsong plot
High school teacher Tom Guthrie (Aidan Quinn) has to raise his two sons alone after his wife leaves him. Maggie Jones (Rachel Griffiths), a colleague of Tom's, tries to support him. When Victoria Roubideaux (America Ferrera), a 17-year-old college student, becomes pregnant and her mother kicks her out of the house, Maggie also takes care of her. She manages to bring Victoria home with two old bachelors, who adapt themselves to the situation somewhat uncomfortably, but no less lovingly.
