Papilio Buddha plot
Shankaran, a young Dalit or 'Untouchable', meets and befriends an American butterfly expert. He helps him catch butterflies, including the rare "Papilio Buddha". Shankaran's father is a communist, who is disappointed that there are still no equal rights for all people in his country. The stubborn Manju works as a rickshaw driver and fights against the prejudices in this male world. When she beats up a union leader and Shankaran is arrested for illegally catching a butterfly, things quickly radicalize.
