Kit Marlowe is a serious writer. She also tries to inspire her friend Millie Drake to write. When Millie publishes a pulp book, it turns out to be financially successful. This is where a low point in Millie's life begins. Her husband dumps her, she gets into a fight with Kit and her subsequent books continue to get bad reviews.
