Oi, Oui plot
A film adaptation of the life of the woman who lived for a long time in the shadow of her father Hokusai, arguably the most globally popular artist in Japanese cultural history. Inspired by various (non-)fictional sources, this historical drama depicts the life of Katsushika Oi in 19th-century Edo (now Tokyo). As an independent and headstrong woman, Oi reluctantly supports her father's projects while fighting for recognition in a male-dominated world.
