Norrmalmstorg plot

On August 23, 1973, criminal Janne Olsson held four hostages in the Kreditbanken on Norrmalmstorg Square in Stockholm. He demanded that his friend Clark Olofsson be brought to him to negotiate with the police. If the hostage situation continues, the hostages begin to stand up for the robbers. This behavior would since then be called the Stockholm Syndrome.
