Nightmare Alley plot

"He was all things to all men … but only one thing to all women!"

Wanderer Stanton becomes fascinated by circus life and in particular by an alcoholic mind reader. This teaches him how easy it is to scam people and when the man dies, the drifter takes over the role of mind reader. After a while he decides that the circus life is too small and lures rich people into believing that he can communicate with their deceased loved ones.
