Le Roi de Coeur plot

Towards the end of the First World War, the German army withdraws from the French city of Marville, but not without leaving a time bomb behind. The residents flee in terror and inform the arriving British army, who orders Charles Plumpick to locate the bomb. In order not to be noticed, he hides in the local asylum, where he is awarded the title 'roi du cœur' (king of hearts). Plumpick becomes more and more sympathetic to the patients.

Pleasant farce with a true star cast. Starts very strong, keeps his moments from time to time, but occasionally goes very over the top. Nevertheless, pleasant pastime.

Michel Serrault, Jean-Claude Brialy and co, led by a magisterial De Broca, go crazy and prove that a different world is possible than that of hateful armies and therefore peoples.

The colorful splendor of the merry band contrasts sharply with the gray sadness and ridiculous seriousness of the wartime.

There are quite a few funny / prickly sayings and statements in the video that touch on a deeper social ground.

Starts very nicely ( Später, Adolf, Später! ), but soon gets bogged down in a bland anarchic chaos. Looks like De Broca was on LSD.
