Le Monde après Nous plot
The young writer Labidi, who is working on his first novel, shares a tiny room in Paris with roommate Alekseï. He keeps his head above water delivering meals. His parents have a cafe in Lyon and there he meets Elisa, a student at drama school. It's love at first sight. In a daze, he rents them a much too expensive apartment in Paris, forcing him to look for all kinds of ways to earn more money, instead of concentrating on his first novel, which has to be finished within six months. When their relationship begins to suffer from all the stress and Elisa can't stand his desperate efforts to raise money, she calls his parents and asks them for financial support.
