A film with the necessary potential about a broken family including the young Adriana who sees herself more as a boy. There is a lot to experience and with fascinating actors and a beautiful setting it is quite enjoyable. Only the film never fully comes to fruition and I was also a bit hungry at the end when the credits started.

The film has some dream sequences that are beautiful and - despite the black and white details - provide the necessary color in the film. Nice to see, but it feels a bit forced, and that's a shame.

Director Emanuele Crialese therefore seems more like a man with good ideas, but less of the finishing touch. Cruz is of course great, but she has also played better. And that is not entirely up to the actress.

Once again Penelope Cruz shows that she can act very well. Still, as far as I'm concerned, most of the credits in this film go to Luana Giuliani, who plays Adri. An extremely sympathetic character who moves you (at least to me). We can make life so much easier by respecting and accepting everyone for who they are. The film alternates touching and comical moments with serious, sometimes very intense moments. Sometimes so abruptly that I could hear people laughing in the cinema at times when there was nothing to laugh at.

Great film for those who love Italy/Italian, Penelope Cruz or social drama. Sublime camera work, great acting by Cruz and Luana Giuliani.

The images often say more than the text.

Touching, humorous, compelling.
