Gui Qu Lai plot

Water scarcity is a daily occurrence for the inhabitants of a fairly large village high in the mountains. There is water, but it has to be taken from a well far away, which makes life in the village difficult. Ah Ming lives alone with his blind mother after his wife left him to live in the big city. One day, his childhood friend Ah Sui is at the door to help them. The government is coming up with plans to build dams and canals, which will give the village its own water supply and improve life. Everyone helps with the construction, which has unexpected consequences for Ah Ming and his family.
