"Eight shots! The truth is there."
'Joint Security Area' is a name for the border area between North and South Korea, which is supervised by an independent Swedish/Swiss organization (NNSC). The film opens with a mysterious incident in a North Korean building within the JSA, in which both South Korean and North Korean victims have been killed. The two survivors are taken away and interrogated by the NNSC, led by Swiss-Korean Major Sophie Lang.
