Five and Ten plot
John G. Rarick is the owner of one of the largest retail chains in the country. His job forces him and his family to move from Kansas to New York. Their family life is not getting any better. John's wife becomes lonely because John is always working and has a secret mistress. His son is having a hard time at work and is depressed. At a party in New York, his daughter meets a man she falls in love with, but he's already engaged.
