The world of Jake Davis (Russell Crowe), a Pulitzer-winning writer, is turned upside down when a fatal car accident leaves him forced to raise his 5-year-old daughter Katie alone. Overcome with guilt for the loss of his wife, he struggles with the daily routine of raising a child, compounded by his arrogant relatives who want to take Katie away from him.
