A modern Hammer horror film with a convincing Scott Chambers in the lead role, who is meanwhile busy building his own film universe with Winnie the Pooh, Bambi and Peter Pan. Doctor Jekyll forms a kind of origin story on the old story and therefore deviates from the old classics, but director Joe Stephenson does not have much to say. The content is hackneyed and there is simply too little happening to repeatedly stimulate the viewer, in addition, the modern design regularly clashes with the classic tone that Stephenson sometimes seems to strive for. When it comes to the production, the film looks quite neat and the acting is solid, but the makers cannot hide the fact that it does not really bring that much.
