Der Berg plot

Meteorologist Manser and his wife Lena man a weather station in the Alps and are cut off from the outside world during the winter. Kreuzpoitner, a former officer, would have liked to hold Manser's position, but was passed by at the time. He undertakes a climb to the weather station, which everyone thinks impossible, in order to prove that he is the right man after all. Once there, he turns out not only to be the rival for Manser's job.
