"Two bodies. Two minds. One soul."
The Mantle brothers are identical twins and both gynaecologists. Only one of the brothers has a lot more self-confidence and always manages to seduce the women he meets. When he has had enough of his current partner, he passes her on to his brother without her noticing. This has been going well for some time, until one day an actress walks into their clinic and the shy brother falls in love first.

Fairly.
David Cronenberg takes his time with Dead Ringers to have his say. The film is often a slow burning fire. A psychological drama, with some thriller elements here and there. I suspect that works great for some, but I'm missing a bit of urgency. Although the developments speak for themselves, and it is also just excellently portrayed by Jeremy Irons, it is rarely really exciting. I wasn't on the edge of my seat, even though I potentially could (or should) have.
