Never been impressed by this print.

While the idea is quite interesting, and some elements remind me of Lost Highway, I don't get into the movie for a single moment. The whole thing is presented too cold and distant in my opinion. There is not much atmosphere in that sense, except for the somewhat mysterious finds and sometimes strange shots. The only moment that I spring out of my chair is the moment that brother cuts his throat. The final punch line escapes me completely.

All in all, not my thing.

Nah, I expected more from this. French thrillers and horror can often fascinate me, but I found this one really too boring. There is a certain atmosphere, which I can still enjoy somewhere, but I didn't find the characters too good and rather irritating, the storyline didn't come through completely, I just missed too much to be good.

Haneke continues to touch. Hard to judge for me with often an everything (Amour, Benny's video or Funny Games) to a nothing (Das weisse Band or Happy end). His films are by no means explanatory. They raise more questions than they answer.

Here again he creates a kind of uncomfortable atmosphere and he knows how to draw the viewer's attention to himself and then just not to end with a climax. I don't think everyone appreciates this. I experience this film mainly from its structure and atmosphere that, especially with sober decoration, still manages to keep your attention. Very vague at times. The motives behind it are hardly made known, if at all. It is what the character Anne (Juliette Binoche) also experiences. It turns out to be a breaking point for her.
