Bom Yeoreum Gaeul Gyeoul Geurigo Bom plot

"What you like, others will also like."

No one is unmoved by the power of the seasons and their annual cycle of birth, growth and decay. Not even the two monks who share a hermitage that floats on a pond in the middle of the mountains. As the seasons unfold, every aspect of their lives is imbued with an intensity that leads to an even greater spirituality—and tragedy. For they too cannot escape the desires of life, the desires, the suffering and the passion that grip each of us. Under the Old Monk's watchful eye, the Young Monk experiences the loss of innocence when a game takes a horrific turn, experiences the awakening of love when a woman invades their protected life, feels the deadly power of jealousy and obsession, the price of salvation and the enlightenment of experience. Just as the seasons are constantly changing, the hermitage will forever be a home to the mind, floating between the now and eternity.

A very special, impressive experience. Due to the almost lack of dialogues, the modest acting and the beautiful cinematography, supported by beautiful music, come into its own even better.

I've seen quite a few movies in my life, but I can't name 1,2,3 that compare to this one.

Very beautiful, very calming. A poetic film to think about.

A movie I've seen before, but haven't written a review yet. Time for a review and an opinion. And then realize again why you never wrote anything about it. It's hard to put into words what the film does. A very atmospheric film like a piece of poetry with moments. But especially symbolism from Buddhism translated into a coming-of-age story of a young monk through different seasons. Sometimes a little too emphatic, but overall nicely done. And as mentioned before: beautiful landscapes. And anyone who criticizes that it is just 'depicting beautiful landscapes' can give me a list of similar films. This is certainly not the only film with such beautiful images, but if it were that easy, more directors would have done this. Reminds me a bit of Seom from the same director, by the way.

After 2006, when I was just discovering film art and was deeply moved by the end of the film in particular, resulting in 5*, I Spring, summer, fall, winter ... and spring[ /i] never dare to revise. I knew that that first experience would no longer be there. That also applies to [i]Dogville by the way (which I did revise). The film had already disappeared from my top 10. The death of Ki-duk Kim, however, is the reason to set him up again. And actually 'Bom Yeoreum' holds up well: the setting is very beautiful, the story is told efficiently, the editing is strong, the soundtrack and music are very beautiful, and even the Eastern mysticism (which I also hate) is well represented. his right. The protagonist's catharsis continues to give goosebumps: the shot from the mountain is simply unparalleled. By far the best film by Ki-duk Kim.
