Don Dubro is the owner of a junk shop. Together with his friends, he daily tries to transcend the hopelessness of their existence, but without result. It is more out of habit than out of real ambition. His friends Teach and Bobby have not yet reached that point and still believe that that golden opportunity will come someday. But as their plan to scam one of Don's customers with a valuable coin develops, the harsh reality looms before them in all its cruelty.
