The 1940s: Two young Texas cowboys drive into Mexico in the 1940s in search of work. One of them, John Grady Cole, wanted to leave Texas due to personal problems. Along the way they meet a young boy who rides with them. Once in Mexico, Cole falls in love with a rancher's daughter.
