Albert Schweitzer plot
Journalist Ariane Frank travels to Lambarene in Gabon, Africa, to make a documentary about the nearly 90-year-old Albert Schweitzer. In countless nocturnal interviews - Schweitzer has no time during the day - Ariane experiences the different phases of his multifaceted life. He talks about his illness at the age of ten, which later at the age of thirty forms the basis for sacrificing his brilliant career and dedicating himself to charity in what was then French Equatorial Africa. Ariane has to admit it: two World Wars, disappointments, setbacks and an internment, could not stop Schweitzer from continuing to work on his great goal: treating and operating the sick.
